"Kumanosan Ishiteji (Mt.Kumano Ishiteji Temple)", a temple connected to Emon Saburo, is said to be the origin of Shikoku Pilgrimage. The roofed walkway is lined with gift shops and shops with local signature oyaki. Known as a place with much mysticism, it is astir not only with pilgrims but tourists also. Nio Gate made in the Kamakura Period has been designated as National Treasure, and the main hall, three-story pagoda, gomado hall, bell tower and temple bell are designated Important Cultural Assets.
