"Torch procession" is inherited in Nakayama district from about 300 years ago. It is a tradition of bringing so called bamboo torches "hote" to rice fields and walking paths between them to drive away pests and ask for good harvest. In the movie "Rebirth", torch processing was conducted as a very important scene.
The scenery of shining rows of "hote" and moving swinging lights in the dark is very wondrous.
