Yubu island, with only 2.15 km in circumference, and with an area of only 0.15km², is formed entirely out of sand. The shallow water becomes only 1 m deep even at high tide. Therefore water buffalo cars are used as a means of transportation for sightseeing between Yubu Island and Iriomote island. This is an important tourist attraction of the island. In addition, you can go across to the island in a normal car or even by foot when the tide is low.
