"Observation of harvest moon" is a popular autumn event held at night of 15th day (August 15th according to lunar calendar). From 5 p.m. usually closed lawn will be opened and you can enjoy unforgettable view of the moon. Since Koraku-en is situated in urban area, there are only several places where you can see harvest moon raising from mountain ridge without being obstructed by buildings. On that day, koto performance and tea party will be held, and time-limited harvest moon lunch boxes will be on sale.
