The purpose of this festival is to inherit a representative melody of folk songs of Miyako island "Nariyama Ayagu" in its birthplace in Tomori. "Nariyama Ayagu" is a folk song that everyone in Miyako knows. The song is about a wife warning and giving moral lesson to her husband. The special stage is constructed in the sea and performance is conducted on illuminated by candles and underwater lighting. The beautiful song sounds inside fantastic atmosphere. "Nariyama Ayagu contest" is the most attractive thing in the festival. Participants sing "Nariyama Ayagu", examination committee give marks and winners get prizes.
