The Safety Support Car S (Wide) is a vehicle that the government is promoting as part of its traffic accident prevention efforts.

Equipped with safety features such as collision mitigation braking and a system that prevents unintended acceleration caused by pedal misapplication, it supports the safety of all drivers, including seniors.

Pre-Collision Safety System (with collision avoidance assistance featuring pedestrian [day/night], cyclist [day/night], and motorcycle [day] detection / millimeter-wave radar + monocular camera system)

Vehicle and Pedestrian Detection Function While Driving Straight

Helps prevent collisions and mitigate damage while driving straight ahead.

The system detects vehicles, pedestrians (day and night), cyclists (day and night), and motorcycles (daytime) ahead using millimeter-wave radar and a monocular camera. It alerts the driver to a potential collision via an audible warning and a display on the multi-information display; if the driver applies the brakes, it provides pre-collision brake assist. If the driver does not apply the brakes, the system activates the pre-collision braking system to help avoid a collision or mitigate damage. The Pre-Collision Braking system operates when the vehicle is traveling at speeds between approximately 5 and 80 km/h to help avoid collisions with pedestrians and cyclists or mitigate damage. For vehicles and motorcycles, the system operates when the vehicle is traveling at speeds of 5 km/h or higher to help avoid collisions or mitigate damage.

It also supports detection at intersections.

When turning right at an intersection, the system uses millimeter-wave radar and a monocular camera to detect oncoming vehicles traveling straight ahead, as well as pedestrians and cyclists crossing the road while turning right or left. At intersections, the detection range is expanded to cover oncoming vehicles in up to two adjacent lanes.
The system alerts the driver to a potential collision via an audible warning and visual display, while simultaneously activating the pre-collision braking system. This helps prevent collisions or mitigate damage.
