1. Meeting & Check-in
Meet your guide at the designated meeting point, where check-in and payment will be completed before the tour begins. If you choose to meet at the Shiretoko Five Lakes Field House, please wait outside the main entrance. If you have requested our complimentary pick-up service, your guide will meet you at your accommodation in the Utoro area or at the Utoro-Shirietoku Roadside Station in a vehicle displaying the Picchio logo.
2. Preparation & Transfer
We provide rainwear, rain boots, and binoculars free of charge, so you can enjoy the tour comfortably in most weather conditions. Please note that rental rainwear is available in limited quantities. If you would like to use our rental equipment, please let us know in advance.
3. During the Tour
Before setting off, you will watch a short safety video explaining how to respond in the unlikely event of encountering a brown bear. Once everyone is ready, it's time to begin your trek through the beautiful Shiretoko Five Lakes.
As you walk, your guide will share fascinating insights into the formation of the Five Lakes, the unique ecosystem of Shiretoko, and the area's diverse plants and wildlife. Questions are always welcome, and we encourage you to enjoy both the spectacular scenery and any wildlife you may encounter, including a variety of birds.
4. Tour Ends
Towards the end of the tour, you will walk along the elevated boardwalk, where you can enjoy panoramic views of Lake One, the Sea of Okhotsk, the surrounding grasslands, and the Shiretoko Mountain Range before returning to the Shiretoko Five Lakes Field House.
The Five Lakes offer a different kind of beauty throughout the day, but one of the most spectacular sights is watching the sun set beyond the Sea of Okhotsk from the boardwalk.
After the tour, we will either return you to your original meeting point or provide transportation back to your accommodation in the Utoro area, marking the end of your Shiretoko adventure.
