Not Just EVs—We’re Harnessing Renewable Energy Too! OTS Rent-a-Car is committed to reducing its dependence on fossil fuels through the use of renewable energy.
In the summer of 2023, OTS Rent-a-Car began generating solar power at its Toyosaki Rental Car Station. More than 300 solar panels have been installed on the metal roofs of the carports and other structures, supporting a 65 kW solar power generation system along with a 13.5 kWh battery storage system. In the event of a power outage caused by a typhoon or other natural disaster, the system can also supply electricity to the local community.
Today, approximately half of the electricity used at the Toyosaki Rental Car Station is generated from renewable energy—specifically, by its on-site solar power system. This reduces CO₂ emissions by approximately 84 metric tons per year. This is equivalent to the annual CO₂ absorption of approximately 9,600 Japanese cedar trees.Electricity generated from fossil fuels produces CO₂ emissions.
OTS Rent-a-Car is gradually expanding its fleet of electric vehicles (EVs). By charging these EVs with renewable energy, we can move closer to achieving true carbon neutrality. Keeping a close eye on the global supply of fossil fuels, OTS Rent-a-Car will continue increasing the share of renewable energy used at its Toyosaki Rental Car Station.
